Editorial policy
How we research, write, review and correct the guides on this site — and the lines we won't cross. Effective date: July 16, 2026.
What this site is
LastMinuteTrips.net is an independent, editorial website about booking travel on short notice. We publish strategy guides — like the core last-minute playbook and the last-minute flights guide — plus destination assessments and practical travel tips. We do not sell travel, take bookings, or process payments. Nothing here is a listing, an offer or a price quote.
How guides are researched and written
- Strategy over listings. We deliberately avoid printing prices, "deals" or availability, because that information rots within hours. Instead we explain how prices behave and how to check them yourself, so a guide stays accurate long after publication.
- Evergreen claims only. Where a fact can change — a fee, a rule, an opening time — we phrase it as something to verify before booking rather than stating a number that may be stale by the time you read it.
- Honesty about downsides. Every method has failure modes, and every destination has weeks when it doesn't work. We publish those caveats alongside the advice, not in fine print.
Review and corrections
Guides are reviewed before publication for accuracy, and revisited when readers flag problems or when the underlying rules change (refund windows, entry requirements, and similar). If you spot something outdated or wrong, please tell us via the contact page with the page URL — corrections are prioritized over all other work. When a correction materially changes a guide's advice, we update the page itself rather than leaving stale guidance in place.
Advertising and affiliate links
The site currently contains no paid placements. If and where affiliate links are ever present, the following rules apply:
- Affiliate relationships never determine what we recommend. Guides are written first; any links are added only where they genuinely serve the reader.
- An affiliate link never changes the price you pay; it may earn the site a commission from the seller.
- Pages containing affiliate links will say so, and this policy plus the privacy policy will be updated to describe how those links work.
- We do not accept payment for positive coverage, rankings or reviews. Sponsored content, if ever published, would be clearly labeled as such.
What we will never publish
- Fake urgency. No countdown timers, no "only 2 left" claims, no manufactured scarcity of any kind.
- Prices presented as current. Any figure we can't keep accurate doesn't go on the page.
- Undisclosed paid recommendations. If money changed hands, you'll know.
- Advice we wouldn't follow ourselves. Tactics that technically work but expose readers to outsized risk (separate tickets with tight connections, non-refundable gambles near deadlines) are either flagged with their risks or left out.
Independence
LastMinuteTrips.net has no ownership ties to any airline, hotel group, online travel agency or booking platform. When we name a category of service — metasearch tools, fare alerts, all-inclusive packages — we describe how to use the category well rather than endorsing a specific company. More about who runs the site is on the about page.
